According to Islamic tradition, Prophet Ibrahim had long yearned for a child, and in his old age, he was blessed with his beloved son Ismail (Ishmael), who became the joy and comfort of his life.

As a test of his unwavering faith and loyalty, Allah repeatedly revealed a sacred command to Prophet Ibrahim in dreams: to sacrifice his dearest son as a testament to his complete submission. Faced with this extremely difficult trial, Prophet Ibrahim did not hesitate or waver. He prioritized his faith over his personal affection for his child, choosing to obey the divine command wholeheartedly.
